Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Nextgen's disaster recovery approach is a 5 step plan to ensure that the organization is prepared to face any unknown threats and risks which can potentially disrupt the business systems

  • Step 1: Identifying threats and Risks

All businesses and its IT systems are vulnerable to external and internal factors which has the potential to disrupt business continuity by harming the IT infrastructure. These threats range from natural disasters to cyber-attacks. Organizations readiness against these threats are correlated to the disaster recovery plan in place to manage the threats

  • Step 2: Assessing Infrastructure

IT landscape and assets which are running the business operations are analyzed . Documentation of the entire infrastructure is created. Assets are divided as per their criticalities and impact.

  • Step 3: Recovery Timeline

Recovery timelines are defined to determine SLA on when systems should be back to normal after the disaster. These timelines addresess following objectives

    - Recovery Time Objective (RTO) : Determines maximum amount of downtime that organization will be able to sustain before systems are back to normal

    - Recovery Point Objective (RPO) : Determines maximum amount of time for data loss an organization can afford before systems are restored

  • Step 4: Backup Plan

DR plan includes back up approach of the organization. Option of backups are analyzed which range from cloud backup, offsite/onsite backup, internal backup, vendor supported back up etc. Plan includes details around determining the approach of back up, team executing the back up, what level of data will be backed up, implementation plan etc.

  • Step 5: DR Test Plan

Disaster recovery plan is tested periodically to ensure that the organization is ready in case of any disaster. If there are any gaps identified in testing, they are fixed and documented. Testing of data being replicated correctly on the target site is conducted. We ensure that the DR process of an organization is full proof to provide protection to organization against any disaster
